It looks ok to me, but I can't tell if the slider was plated or is WM. Either way, a bit unusual.

I'm glad you posted your mate's example as I have the same badge sitting in my 'not sure' box.

Mine isn't plated but is a w/m badge on a w/m slider with silver braise - which I think your mate's will be too.

With regard to w/m sliders it does seem to have been established on the Forum that F Narborough (FN) have at sometime used w/m sliders on their badges. Why, I don't know! Though the few w/m sliders I've seen on their badges have the typical tapered FN shape, which your mate's and mine don't have.

It has also been established that FN did make a F&F badge, but is it this one??

The badge does have the nice touch of some daisies flowering in the grass, but notwithstanding this, I don't like the bar that represents the Thane's eyes, the lack of void space between the Thane's mailed foot and the horses caparison and Sophia Loren would have died for an eye like that represented on the horse. Just not right!

I hope someone with a FN F&F might be able to confirm or otherwise that it is from the FN die even if the slider does not conform.

Having said all that if I just wanted one F&F badge in my collection, it wouldn't be this one. There are far better out there and without the nagging doubt.
Mark

Thank you Mark,
Plenty of information there!
Let’s see what others say, my collector friend is German and he is just starting out collecting british and colonial cap badges,
I could do with knowing if it’s good so I can return if bad, I am forwarding him information on how this is going
Kind regards Chay
