Default Gen Sir Claude Auchinlek

Had this photo and while - does appear to be a press shot, although there are no stamps or markings on the rear.

Interesting array of badges. The officer on the extreme right - who looks a little like Monty ( or indeed one of the 'Two Types' ) is Essex Regt. I can see Grenadier Guards and Royal Fusiliers ( possibly providing escort/ security duties) stood along the rear.

Interesting collection of kit, headgear and insignia.

Everything's proper. No two are dressed alike.

and that still infuriates the RAF today!

The 17/21 delighted in a rule that no 2 officers were ever to be dressed the same in barracks. The junior had to get changed. The only rule was no No2 dress jersey with DPM trousers. Great bunch.
