Default " Badges for ID - JR Gaunt Rose Badge & Silver Middle Eastern Badge

Hello All

I have recently received the 2 badges pictured below but am not sure what they are. The first one is a die cast rose which is approx. 19mm in diameter, has 2 lugs to the rear and is maker marked JR Gaunt London (East Lancs collar perhaps?). The 2nd one is either silver or a light white metal, approx. 23mm in diameter and has one fixing wire on the rear (the other having been broken off). It also has 2 small bendable tabs as if to hold a backing plate. The design looks Middle Eastern (Middle Eastern unit officer's rank pip perhaps). Does anyone have any idea what either of these badges is? They are not in my area of collecting so I will most likely be moving them on once I get an ID so if anyone is interested then please let me know.

Many thanks

Paddy

The second badge is a classic 'sand caste bazaar-made badge'. Awful quality and meant for the tourist trade, not to fool anyone but the foolish.

Some of the police forces and militia type units on the sub-continent have issue badges almost this crude, but I don't think this is one of them.

The five pointed star was used by the Indian Army and it's affiliates, after 1950, to replace the crown, and the 'script' across the bottom may be Deva Nagri rather than Arabic - I read neither - so it may be Indian.

Peter

Many thanks for your comments, it certainly doesn't look very good quality.
