Nina, you have a great piece of history there. I feel it only fair to warn you though, on behalf of the forum members, that some of us are getting on a bit and getting us all excited could be a health hazard !!!.

Hahah! Take it easy fellas, we don’t want to lose any of you! I forgot to mention that my aunt is still with us. She’s 92 years old and sadly is suffering from a type of dementia but I know she would be so happy knowing the cape is bringing so much joy and excitement.

I've made a start - a table with identifications for the majority of items in the range 129 - 183. Would someone care to take it on from here? If so please PM with an email address and I'll send you the table - as a Word document that can be corrected. expanded, added to. There may be errors - I know almost nothing about rank badges, trade badges or metal badges! Mike

Interesting that there are also a number of Third Reich badges on it too. What a lovely item.

I notice that we have the new Charging Rhino of 1st.Arm.Div....which we were issued just prior to our leaving Italy for Palestine in June 1947..Not to be confused with a WW2 badge....................and No 1 Armoured Replacement Group (CMF) as used for my avatar..........had a mate served in that.

The blue star inside of the eight lobed white "star" surrounded by red (number 2XX, I can't read all the numbers on the white tags) is United State Army Field Services, at one time a generic "Patch for Army Staff who doesn't have a Patch of their own."
It's a U.S. Army Patch. Until recently, it was the shoulder patch for the Trial Defense Service, U.S. Army Judge Advocates (lawyers) who were defense attorneys. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_Service_Forces |
