They were badges to the Worcestershire Regiment having dropped their school badge in the inter-war period as did all Worcestershire OTCs.

The group photo looks to be taken at the front of the Abernant Lake Hotel, Llanwrtyd Wells.

Thank you. I am wondering what the occasion was that took a Worcestershire school cadet band to Wales in wartime.

From Wikipedia.

Jon

During the Second World War, the entire school was temporarily moved to Llanwrtyd Wells in Wales, as the school buildings were requisitioned by British government departments for the war effort. Many former pupils and members of staff were killed during the Second World War, and their names are commemorated at the war memorial of the town. In 2007, the school was granted the freedom of Llanwrtyd Wells.

Thank you all for your contributions to this thread. I am attempting to identify all those named on the back of the photograph.

A second photograph came from the same source as this one. It too is named on the back and it is titled, The cadets of No 8 Short Course April-September 1944 at Cambridge in training for officers in the Royal Engineers. Presumably, somebody is depicted in both photographs.
