Default Ulster Signaller's & Despatch Rider's Club badge

Hi all

Thought you might like to see the Ulster-related lapel badge that I've mentioned in a recent post.

It remained unidentified for a few months apart from realising that it had SOMETHING to do with "signals". It turned up in the most unexpected way and then I saw one on eBay for ....a lot of $$$$$$s! One day it might have outlived its novelty so......

A friend sent me some pictures of members of the "club" standing around their motorcycles waiting to be "useful"...

I note that this has a pinback (for women?) so is there a "half-moon" version (for men) too?

Common? Uncommon? Available as a cereal toy?

Hi,

A lovely looking badge and not one I have seen before.

Any possibility of a nice clean high res image?

Cheers,

Roy

Ulster signals and Dispatch Riders Corps. Were a part of the pre WWI Ulster Voluntee Force. The badge is rare, and very sought after.

Hi Roy and others

Yes, I have many talents but taking photos if NOT one of them! I'll get working over the weekend in "natural light"!

Hi Roy and others with an interest

Here is a better pic of that badge. It is actually a lot cleaner than the picture would have you believe.

I still don't think that I'll ever get an award for photography....

One day you might prise it out of me!

Hi Steve

Thanks for that. It's clear that the two badges are linked in some way. I would guess that yours might be a tad later?

Hi
No idea !!! Only other one I have seen was a full size that went through Bosleys auctions.
Can't remember if it was an earlier or later design.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve

After posting, I now recall that I did see one of these enamel jobbies sell on eBay about ten years back. I've had mine a tad longer than that. How it came my way is a story in itself! At the time it was just a "nice badge in good order".

If it really is that unusual and desirable, a sensible PM might get me thinking about how much I still want it.....
