Derby Yeo
Many thanks gentlemen - much appreciated. Here's the object of the enquiry - a trench art matchbox holder. Mike

It is always nice to be able to put 'flesh onto bones' so to speak particularly when you have picked up a nice item. I picked up a prayer book from WW1 which was clearly a comfort to the soldier with the verses and notations inside. It is an item to treasure but I was absolutely delighted on consulting the Medal Rolls to find that he had joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment at the start off the war and moved to the Royal Field Artillery and went on to win a commission in the Royal Artillery. The Medal Rolls are a real resource for collectors of medals or other possessions of WW1 soldiers. A very nice find Mike.

Derbyshire Imperial Yeomanry
I was in (almost) no doubt that this was a period piece, but the reason for asking a question to which I might have been supposed to know the answer, was to double check that the number, name, date and place had not been retrospectively added to given the item added "authenticity". As Members know, such things do happen. As a follow-up question when and where would that badge - Imperial Yeomanry and lacking crown - have been worn? Mike

Actually, WO329 and WO372 does absolutely nothing other to confirm entitlement.
