Default A Good Day At The Office

Rather pleased with what the postman dropped off today. A bevy of beauties for the collection.

The Northants TF and PPA were both very nice repairs done by Warren Butcher.

Awesome.

The Hants RGA and East Surrey badges look particularly appealing to me and I live in hope that I'll eventually be lucky enough to have the opportunity to add such badges to my collection at some stage in the future.

Very nice lot indeed! What is the Britannia? A Norfolk FSC badge? The S. Notts Hussars appears to be an OSD.

Hello Luke. What was the Northamptonshire TF repair? If slider they are fairly distinct so hard to match I should think. Regards, Paul.

Thanks everyone.

The First Hants is very nice indeed and on a long slider. It was in the last Wallis & Wallis sale which had several rare Artillery badges. It’s the first real one I’ve seen since Norman Litchfield’s collection was sold and a badge I thought I’d never own so very pleased.

CB, the South Notts Hussars is a bronzed ORs badge with a nice Woodward marked slider. Quite a lot of early OR Yeomanry badges were bronzed finish before and to an extent during WW1.

That Britannia badge is I’m told a collar for 25th Middlesex (Bank of England) Rifle Volunteer Corps. Albeit I’ve since been informed it may have been worn by staff at the BoE. It’s such a lovely badge whatever it is I’m happy.

The Northants had the scroll pinged off one side so it’s been reattached. I now can’t tell which side it had come away it’s been done so well.

KRRC Militia with SA Honour is a rare badge too, only the second one I’ve seen.

Thanks Keith. If you needed one I do know of another which is currently listed for sale.

Cheers Tim. Even 48hrs I still can’t decide my favourite. Possibly erring towards the side of the Royal North Down Militia or the First Hants.

I’ll have a King’s Colonials slouch hat badge en route soon which will complete my ORs KC collection. A bumper but very expensive month!

Requested close ups.

In answer to your question Billy the genuine First Hants are from a different die to the fakes. You can see the differences in the lettering, scroll end and crown.

The North Down Militia is lovely, cannot be many of these floating about? Well done! Cracking badges!

Default Popski Private Army

Thanks Billy it is very nice. No not seen many for sale over the years, can probably count them all on one hand.

Here’s the PPA you asked about. Warren had a lot of trouble with this one as it was plated.
