Default Motor Mechanic - post 1950 branch badge

The Motor Mechanic was an RCN(R) rate badge & was primarily for civilian Auto Mechanics who were members of the RCN(R).

This is another specifically designed rate badge that is unique to the RCN. No previous design of this type had been used prior to 1950.

The Motor mechanic badge is illustrated below:

Default Motor Mechanic Pre 1950

Hello, I'm searching for some information on the Motor Mechanic trade during the WWII / immediate post war timeframe. Could you tell me what they did as a trade? I'm doing some research for a family member at my local Legion in Napanee. I'm serving RCN and they've turned to me for some help. Thank you.
