Default Fake Irish Regiment of Canada KC Officers Badge

Well I thought I best put this badge up so you are aware of it.
Below is a FAKE Kings Crown Irish Regiment of Canada Officers Cap Badge. I have seen a few of these come up on eBay and the shows the odd time. This one is marked COPY so as to not deceive anyone. However there are many others out there that are NOT marked.

A quick note in regards to the IrRC Cap badges will help a bit to understand this. In WWII there was a distinct Officers Badge and ORs Badge.

In the post war era, when the Regiment switched over to the Queens Crown badges, they used a pattern based on the WWII era Officers Badge, and other than a slight colour difference they are the same.

I have never seen in use, a badge to the Regiment that looks like this one below. The wire loops are thinner than one expect, there are cut/flashing marks at the base of the crown, and the lowest star point is not sharp/defined as it should be.

Default Cross Reference

I believe this is one of the pattern from the maker in eastern Ontario, cross reference to the list I posted yesterday. It is on that list and they were made in the 80's.

Yes Bill you are correct, I should have noted your post, as that is what prompted me to show this one.

I have also seen these badges with a piece of red felt glued to the back side of the crown. This hides the flashing marks and does change the appearance of the badge considerably. I saw one with the felt backing sell on eBay last year for over $350.00.

Here is an image of the fake I saw on eBay last year. Note the felt befind the crown, and the missing piece on the bottom star point

Default Side by each...

Cliff, Thanks for the images. If you have a good IrRC officer's kc cap, could you post images of it as well, for comparison?
With time passing, many of the repro badges are being offered as originals as the vendor is not aware of the copies or details to distinguish the details.

Reverse of the badges, really show the differences in the way the overlays are applied.
