The w/m star is the 4th/7th Dragoon Guards worn from circa 1926.
The one and all badge is a collar badge for the Cornwall Regiment. The rose and star is a collar for the East Yorkshires. Alan |

Vic Rifles
Quote:
Victoria Rifles (Montreal) served in Newfoundland from late 1940 to 1941, then in New Brunswick as part of the 7th CDN. Division. According to Tripp's badge book, "Canada's Army in World War II", the regiment embarked for the UK 11/20/1944 but was disbanded one day after embarkation for use as reinforcements. Thompson's "Cap Badges and Insignia of the Canadian Army, 1953-1973" shows a QC version of their cap badge, but he does not show collars, which I assume were probably the same design. In any event, according to Thompson, the regiment was reduced to nil strength in 1965. Off the cuff, looking at the back of the collar in your pic. I'd guess this one is WW2. |

Hey Dave, Don't forget that the VRC lost the active service battalion at Hong Kong.

was Royal Rifles, not Vic Rifles
Royal Rifles of Canada was one of the two Canadian regiments wiped out in Hong Kong. The second was the Winnipeg Grenadiers. As per my previous post, Victoria Rifles were in 7th Division, which was a home defense division.

Sorry Dave, my rushed mistake. You are quite correct. The Royal Rifles were at Hong Kong, not the VRC.

Badge ID
Hi BC
The eagle at the bottom of the group is part of a Royal Rhodesian Air Force officer's cap badge, 1956 - 1970, though I think they only started using anodised eagles on them in 1960. The blade that is just visible was used to secure it to a black felt backing and there would have been a bullion wire queen's crown above and a half wreath below. Rgds, Alex |
