Default Canadian Air Force

I have a Canadian Air Force badge here and have had it for about 30 years or more, I hear there are reproductions around & are more plentiful than the real thing, What can you look for on this badge to indicate that it's authentic? When I got it the cloth behind the crown was faded and I foolishly touched it up with a red marker. I also have the collars but they are not matched. What can I do to get a clear scan of the bach of a badge that has long lugs? Even the front is a not good scan because the badge is so rounded or obtuse. Ray

Hi Ray,

Difficult to comment on this one from the photo, but it looks promising at least. Good copies do abound so one has to be careful with these badges.

Can you provide photos with a digital camera rather than a scan? Many scanners cannot provide clear images of 3D objects, such as convex badges like yours. (some are better than others). I have found the best is a digital camera with a decent macro function...although it's still difficult to get good images at times.

Cheers,

Adam
