Default One of the Rarest Australian Battledress flashes - 3/4 CAV

Hi Guys,

Happy New Year!

This is one of the rarest (if not the most rarest) post 1960 Australian Army battledress flashes.

Worn by members of 'B' Squadron, 3rd/4th Cavalry Regiment.

These are incredibly hard to find as the Squadron didn't wear battledress in Townsville (a tropical environment) and it is believed these were only issued in extremely small numbers to members who were going on courses at places such as Puckapunyal.

I have been told (can't confirm however) that only 30 odd sets were made and issued to the unit.

Regards,

Mick

Hi Guys,

Further info about this flash.

I was told yesterday it was only worn by 'A' Squadron in Brisbane on only one parade in the early 1980s (just after the amalgamation between 3rd Cavalry Regiment and 4th Cavalry Regiment). Possibly also worn by individuals when on course at Puckapunyal.

Believed to also have been locally made in Brisbane.

Mick

How do you know that Bradley?

A long term RAAC NCO told me they were locally made.

BC, is this the manufacturer who had the two line titles for LAUNCESTON REGIMENT, DERWENT REGIMENT, etc? There were various stories running around about those pattern books at the time in the past when I collected Australian titles but it was always up in the air.
Cheers, Keith

hi keith
i'm not sure about those titles. i will ask my mate who has the books to have a look and let you know.
from what i've seen there are several pattern books with probably over 100 different patches, ranks etc.
i also remember there were some ww2 dutch and US patches that were made by this company for the respective countries.
