Default 6th VB Manchester Regiment - One for SB!

Simon,
could I have your opinion on this one please? I have compared it to yours on this site

http://www.themanchesters.org/VB%20badges.htm

... but still in two minds! It looks better from the rear but the poor striking to areas such as the SA Scroll, numeral oval and the three dots underlining the "TH" have me slightly concerned!

Would you say I have a poor strike but genuine or a reproduction?

Thanks in advance!

Andy

Andy,

I believe it is a reproduction, because.

1. The 3 dots are correct but should be touching each other.
2. The SA scroll is too deep, should be thinner.
3. But, in essence, the overall quality does not reflect the skill and care taken with Edwardian cap badges - as it has numerous pieces of excess voiding and double edges on the scrolls. The overall finish to the scroll ends particularly on the SA scroll are bad.
It is overall to clumsy and lacking in detail and workmanship to be a period piece and I would have no hesitation in stating it was not original.

regards

The lion looks a little, well, odd and I don't like the reverse of shield itself, rather "smooth" isn't it?
Not one that I'd buy if I saw such an example, up north, surely not!
