Could the cloth collectors please pass verdict on this one, it looks rather different to it's embroidered counterpart?

I believe the Mailed Fist was adopted by 20X c.1940? When were printed Formation Signs introduced?

Not sure if this helps much, if at all, but this sign is shown in " Heraldry in War -Formation Badges 1939-1945 " by Howard Cole published in 1946.

The second illustration shows Embroidered badges being Privately purchased and printed badges being Ordnance issue, the third type of badge being "Home Made" ,i.e. made under local arrangements.
