RND cap band/badge config....
Hi guys ,
I've seen this odd badge & cap chin strap configuration in about a dozen,or more, RND pics now. Mostly HAWKE Batn. but not all ! This is not an 'accidental' arrangement !! Chin strap is 1/2 above & 1/2 below cap badge, on purpose. This seems to have some significance? Even worn by NCOs (see PO in 1st pic below) May signify 1914 'origionals' or 'Gallipoli service' or something similar ?? Seems to be an RND(Naval ?) 'thing', but others may have seen it elsewhere before??? Does anyone have an answer/another suggestion here ? Cheers ! Steve PS; 1st man(PO/Sgt)R.N.D cap badge with HAWKE s/t's, likely France mid-later 1916 2nd man(#3 over HAWKE s/t on cap) is probably post Gallipoli, and likely in UK, prior to going to France in 1916 3rd man is stated as being from ANSON, but wearing RMLI badge in 1915 ( IMO I think a little later ? ) Last edited by dragonz18; 22-05-10 at 02:57 PM. |

Thought I'd add this cracking photo from Google, really clear image, wonder was the wearing of two badges in the cap official .... probably not.
Cheers Tony.
