Does anyone know what the attached badge which is cast alloy with three small holes might have been used for.

I would also be pleased to hear from anyone who might know anything about the history of the units Pipes and Drums.

All I know of their Pipes & Drums is that Joe Massey was appointed Pipe Major in 1967.

I haved just acquried the uniform in the attached photos.The green tunic has anodised RA collars and buttons,the kilt and plaid are Crawford tartan and the tunic has a makers label with the name "Piper Major C Seagroves "inside.

I wonder if after 1967 the tunics of the Liverpool Irish were passed to the band of the Lancashire Artillery Volunteers which were then worn with Crawford tartan.

I hope to be in touch with someone shortly who may be able to confirm if that was the case.

This is how the uniform would look when worn.

If anyone can confirm the way the plaid is attached at the end with what is in effect a buckled belt of tartan material I would be most grateful.I presume, from its length,the belt was worn round the waist before going across the chest and over the shoulder where is would hang down loose ?

( members were very helpful some time ago when I was trying to work out how a fly plaid was fitted )

Drummers wore a feather bonnet and pipers the glengarry with R.A. cap badge.

The plaid brooch was I believe a plain quoit with R.A. badge on it. ( if anyone comes across a reasonably priced one please let me know )
