Default EDV111R R.E. Officer badge c/w blades

I recently brought this from auction and find it a bit strange. It is a EDV111R RE officer badge with blades and IMO very well made but it is of a "copper" colour Can anyone explain this for me?? Either way I think I would keep it for my colliction. Sorry about photo's.

Hi Jerry
Im not a metal worker but i think bronze is a mix of copper and tin not sure the amounts and im sure i will be corrected, maybe the badge has lost its bronze wash Davec can fix this for you.

Default EDV111R R.E. with blades

I have obtained these two EDV111R R.E. bronze badges with blades and need an opinion on them please. Both seem well made with good attachment of blades, no maker name but have "wide" voiding.
Sorry in advance for c**p pictures

Default RE EviiiR OSD

Gerry,

I've always run shy of these. Originals were few in number due to the length of time the King reigned.
Info' from Crown Imperial, Winter 1998 that fake Bronze badge for EviiiR made in Sussex since 1986. Has big gap between wreath & garter and is of poor quality manufacture.

Stephen.

Default Edward V111 Engineers osd cap badge

Dear engr9266 Here is an Ed v111 osd I have had for 0ver 45 years now and i believe it to be 100%. I hope the pictures post ok.You may notice that there is a very narrow gap between the wreath and the scroll. The scroll is joined to the wreath at 4 points on either side. The detail is very sharp and clean with no excess metal ,the E VIII R is very clean. The badge does have manufacturing faults, the cross on the orb is a little off centre and the inner edge of the scroll beneath SE in penseis faulty.
This was one of my first badges that i got in the early 60`s when i had no money, wouldn`t have known where to buy badges and there were plenty of family friends who would give young lads these worthless souvenires. all the best .mac

mac, Thanks for taking the time to reply to this older thread. I believe that my EDV111R osd badge's are copies but I will keep them in my collection "to fill a gap or two" until I get some originals. The only original EDV111R I have is a gilt badge with lugs which cost a bob or two and came from a trusted dealer.
Regards Jerry.
