Default Gestapo Poster??

OK, not a badge per se,,,,,,,,,,,well,,,,,,,,,,,,,not a badge at all but, I was wondering if any of you had seen this poster. I think it is a post war item and I am thinking that it might have been produced by an American museum but beyond that, I haven't a clue. It's signed M. Virlier SS.

If it's not glorifying Nazism, I can sell it on ebay but if it's a propoganda poster, I can't. It looks rather like somebody is trying to make the Gestapo look dreadful and ominous which puts me in the first category.

Thanks for any possible help.

Not sure too much effort would be required to make the Gestapo look dreadful and ominous.

I always knew socks were made of thread, but darn it, a thread made by a sock? I like it

Looks like and example sold in the US for $250 at the start of the year: https://witherells.com/lot/a-gestapo-poster-3162500

If you do a google image search there are a number of examples out there which have sold at auction over the past few years - but I cannot help with a positive identification of what it is - sorry

What a socking sense of humour!! How long have you been stocking them up for?

I'm off before I put my foot in it.

I really know nothing about Third Reich militaria and perhaps I am being naive, but would it not be counterintuitive for the 'Secret State Police' to advertise/recruit in so overt a manner?

Default Still not sure.

$250!! That's a lot of bananas!

I agree Jelly. I think it's a propaganda item; an "anti-oppression" thing. The signature of Virliers SS is a bit confusing. The SS wouldn't have anything to do with publicizing the Gestapo. Weren't they the Geheimnespolitzei? Secret Police? You wouldn't want posters up around the town. I'm thinking it's a post war protest thing.

I would still love to nail it down though.

Yeah that’s it, Geheime Staatspolizei... secret state police.

Perhaps you could keep us updated if you manage to crack it? I for one would be interested.

Cheers,
