Default Dockyard police helmet plate?

I am posting this scan (apologies for terrible state of scan) of what I gather could be a Dockyard Police helmet plate. I suppose the centre would have housed either a small anchor or possibly a numeral.
I also think that the plate originally had a Crown at top centre, as there are indications that something has been removed from there.
Would appreciate any information on this piece
Thanks

It should have an anchor in the centre. The badge was produced with both a QVC and a King's Crown. If I'm not mistaken it was worn in Malta and in Bermuda. Hope this is helpful.

Dave.

Thanks, Dave
Actually, it was obtained locally (Malta).
I have tried positioning the small wm collar/shoulder anchors in the centre but they are too large and overlap the circumference. These small anchors were worn in Malta as cap badges with a QVC. and later a KC, attached.

Default Dockyard Police Helemt plate.

Dear GTB,
Please find attached original image of the generic Dockyard Police helmet plate which I obtained from and ex Bermuda Dockyard Policeman. It was worn in other Naval dockyards and especially Malta. In Bermuda it was worn on a white police helmet. There are two versions, surmounted by either a QV Crown or the Kings Crown. The anchor either has two loops to fit the drilled holes or the centre was solid and the anchor was brazed on. Hope this may be of some help.

Thanks, Harry. Most informative.
Can you tell me if the plate is cast or die-struck?

Default Dockyard Police Helmet Plate

Dear GTB,
Although it was many years ago, unfortunately to my regret due to circumstances I let the badge go, but I am most certain that it was a beautiful cast badge. I hope that this will help.

Harry,
It does! My version is also cast.

I have since tried one of the small anchors for fit in the centre and happy to say the fit is identical to your pic, with the top ring protruding from circumference. I should have a couple of 'Dock-Yard' Victorian period buttons in my Aladdin's Cave which I presume would have been worn with this plate (also locally acquired from a retired Dockyard Policeman). Will post when found

My Pleasure! Only peeved that I have a flatbed scanner, but I suppose better than nothing.

Although I may be diverging from the thread I'd like to post this next item, found while detecting.
It is a wartime aluminium ID wrist bracelet, extensively pockmarked as one would expect from having lain in the ground for some time, but markings still legible:
"A GOODRHAM. / DOCKYARD / POLICE / P.C.140. RC."
I think it deserves a place among companion relics.
