Police Liaison Officer Armband
The style suggests WW2 but was this armband worn by a Policeman liaising with civil defence or an Air Raid Warden liaising with the Police?
Thoughts please. Jon |

for what it's worth...it certainly LOOKS war time.....and I'd go one further and suggest that a copper might not be a POLICE LIAISON OFFICER....'cos he'd be liaising with someone else...wouldn't he be the "Public Liaison Officer" or similar?...and then his/her counterpart in whatever service they were in be the "Police Liaison Officer"??
Although they did use "POLICE" in stuff like the "Police Auxiliary Messenger Service"....so what do I know.... "Conjecture" I hear you all shout....and you'd be right..... Nice armband though either way. |

The title is still used to-day by certain officers who are deployed policing public order situations, marches etc. So, I believe your assumption is correct. (the policeman is there to act as liaison with other persons/agencies). Dave. |

On the subject of literal job titles, I was once seconded to Lambeth Council and was suprised to learn that they employed a Hate Crime Coordinator. A Hate Crime Disrupter might have been more appropriate.
