Gents very interesting thread. Please find attached my small MGC set. These were all obtained individually on the junk markets in East London 1970's. Any observations welcomed. The two collars together are really nice. The single pic collar I'm not totally sure about.

The cap badges with sliders are both genuine in my opinion, at least the right example certainly is, although the left might be questionable . The two collar badges shown in your picture are also genuine, the one on the left an OSD (officer service dress) example, and on the right an OR (other ranks ) example.
The last single badge you show is unfortunately a fake. CB

Here is a further style of MGC repo sold by a well known peddler on eBay, albeit in fairness they do clearly state in their description ‘You must purchase this badge knowing it is not an original’
From the reverse, just like all this sellers badges, it’s discernible the badge has been produced from a cast. Note the thick edges and uneven surface. Whilst this is a fairly obvious repro with the RND attachment, without it and the addition of a less conspicuous slider I imagine it could easily catch a lot of collectors out. |

Anyone got a B.P. & Co Ltd. B'ham marked MGC cap badge? The one I have does not seem to have a curve to the crown base. Regards, Paul.

Not my badge but a reference photo I saved of a good one that got away somewhere on the net.
Another genuine one here https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...60&postcount=1 Also attached is a MMG fake with a cheeky fake BP mark (note no full stop). |

Thanks Luke. Quick snaps, sorry for quality. Not much of a curve but if crown tilted away I think there is one. Not so obvious as others. Regards, Paul

OK, no reply to my post (#29) so I'll ask again with a slight modification-
Does anyone have a picture of any British ORs during WW1, wearing the standard MG collar badges? |

In a couple of decades staring at MGC BADGES, I have only ever seen one genuine RND badge (and that includes ones sold by "reputable" auction houses and dealers). The MMG badges are also fair game, but the fakes have the wrong pattern of gun. Unfortunately the penny has now dropped with the fakers.
