Default Gurkha Badge for ID

Hi All
Can somebody ID this Gurkha badge please, it seems to be unmarked silver, so maybe an officer's pugri badge? It is about 40mm x 32mm.
Thanks, cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex,
There is one very similar in the 4th Gurkha Rifles Insignia book. It is not positively identified, but was possibly worn by the 4th GR in the 1920's

Regards
Steve

Thanks Steve, that would be fantastic. I had thought perhaps 4GR with the feathers but from looking on the net the POW feathers don't seem to have been exclusively 4GR.
Cheers,
Alex

Alex you did really well. I concur with Steve that it’s probably an officers 4G badge from the 1920s - I saw it on the South African site Bidorbuy- and I put in a low offer myself- I’d never used the site before and heard very mixed reviews about it plus I wasn’t convinced I’d got the rand conversion rate right! I now wish I’d been a bit braver! As Steve said it’s similar to one that’s illustrated in the Gurkha Museum’s book on the insignia but not identical- and the museum is not entirely confident on the attribution of it - but the books on the 6 Gurkha Regiments that went to India (inc the 4G ) are not as comprehensive as the books on the 4 regiments that stayed in British service. That’s because a lot of the source documents at the Regimental centres in India were not consulted. The books remain the definitive works on the subject but it’s why “unrecorded “ badges occasionally appear in the market. Tim
