Default ISADULAS (FLINTSHIRE) VOLUNTEERS BUTTON

Just an image (can't compete with Roy on picture quality !!!) of a short lived unit, button circa 1803-1810.

Nice one!

Most of the Volunteer units of that period were short-lived and they can often present a challenge to ID. It would be easy to confuse the "IV" with Roman "4" there!

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the nice compliment but also for sharing this beauty, well done!

Any chance of an image of the back, any markings?

Cheers, Roy.

P.s. If you want to send it over to me to photograph feel free....

Thanks for the comments, some more iffy photo's, but good buttons.

No wonder Ripley & Darmanin draw them..

Very nice indeed Jonathan. You certainly like your Welsh Vols & Militia! There are plenty of them to look for, to say the least.

David

PS..... Roy - substitute "Shropshire" for "Wales" and start looking. Far fewer similar units from Shropshire though!

Yes - very nice indeed Jonathan.

A lovely group, would like to see the backs at some point.

Certainly close geographically David, I think my last home in Shrewsbury was but a mere 12 miles from the Welsh border, so know some parts quite well - many a camping trip in my your was spent in Wales.

Roy.

Jonathan.

Thanks Jonathan,

Some really lovely examples you have there, nice to see. Fascinating also to see the backs with all the details.

Well done and thanks for sharing.

Cheers, Roy.

Afternoon Roy.

Here you go, one of the best looking buttons you are going to see, what a beauty.

1st Glamorgan Engineers Dowlais Company c. 1860-1870.

Image of the back as well (know you like reverse of buttons), nothing exciting though.

Jonathan.

Fantastic images! I’ve seen a few of these in various places online but never to purchase…perhaps one day! Firmly on my wants list!

Thanks for pulling this post up. I was unaware of it. Some very nice buttons there. I am surprised that the late Cribyn did not comment.

Since starting the thread have managed to pick up the belt buckle (split on whether this is better or the button) to add to the collection.

Enjoy.
