Default Cloth Captain pips and RAF shoulder insignia.

Can anyone elaborate on these items for me.
Red Captain shoulder slip on, I assumed these would be sewn on but are embroidered.
Also a pair of RAF shoulder badges, these are on a black background, I assumed they would be blue?
Grateful for any help.
Apologies for inverted image just can't get it right.
May be moving these items on.
Tony.

I'm having the impression it could an early slip on with khaki backed pips; once the coloured backing were introduced (1943-ish if memory serves me well) the red pips were stiched on top of the original ones.
