Default Hampshire Volunteers & Earl of Ulsters

My dad got these for me in about 1958 .
Sadly a lot of my badges were stolen about 7 years ago when we moved house.

That would be very upsetting to have one's collection stolen like that! Sorry to hear it.

Nice badges, but the fact that your father got them for you makes them more of a treasure to me. In 1963 my father came back from a TDY in the Azores and brought me back an RAF and an RCAF pilots wing. They remain very dear and special to me because he got them for me!

Hi Terry, It was a sad loss as some of the badges i had some of them over 60 years, use to swamp them at school & go round to all the junk shops. You could pick them up for a few coppers then. No restrikes in those days.

Sweetman,

At the risk of upsetting you I am afraid neither of those glengarry badges are genuine, despite the date you say they were collected.

The Hampshire VB is a poorly cast copy, no originals were ever made like that.

The other is of the style of many of the copies available on ebay.

I am sorry to give you this information but others on here will I believe agree.

regards

Unfortunately pre-territorial glengarries have been reproduced since the Fox restrikes at the turn of last century.

I entirely agree with Simon that neither the V.B. or 97th Foot shown is original.
