Default Uitenhage Rifles

Hi South African members,
Here is a Uitenhage Rifles badge for comment.
When was this badge worn, during or after South African War?
Crown on Lion has been bent back slightly and there is a vestige of another lug or hook at top.
Thanks, John

Hi all,
Here is another Uitenhage Rifles badge for comment please.
Was it worn same time as the previous badge shown or earlier?
Slouch hat or collar badge?
Thanks,
John

John,
I believe that was the cap badge of the unit. Different to the smasher/slouch hat badge
