The large font was used in the 1950s and later to be replaced by the Bham mark on a/a badge in the late 60s.

The small one is older. Possibly interwar. I have seen it on F&F yeomanry for example.

Thanks Alan , they are both from British Legion QVC badges with the smaller 20mm lion's head enamelled front pieces.

This smaller size was introduced in 1946 when Gaunt got the British Legion contract back from Birmingham Medal Co.

My findings in both 17/21L & LYPAO Gaunt made badges shows no Gaunt MM on the Other Ranks badges until 1945/6. The large Gaunt mark appears in the mid to late 1950s and then the BHAM mark appears post 1964.
