Rare Image Of WWI DR Patch
Hi Gents,
I wanted to share a really nice recent WWI postcard addition. As some of you may remember I collect image of Despatch Riders. This one is really special as it clearly shows the earliest version of the (unofficial) DR trade patch. No other insignia is clear. I still haven't found one of these patches but do have a handful of period images showing it in wear, this one is a beauty. Cheerio, Roy

Thanks Gents,
And 'no' that's not the correct patch. See attached a pic from my research, not mine as I still haven't found one. Cheerio, Roy

Here's mine again, it is one of my favourite things as my great uncle Frank was a despatch rider in WW1, I should add this one wasn't his.

I have a medal Group to a Motor Cyclist Corporal in the Royal Engineers from WW1,he was based at Divisional Headquarters and was awarded the MSM.Upon checking his service record he was in the Motor Cycle Reserve and took his own machine to France. In with his papers is a list of all the spare parts he had to take with him for his motorbike, very interesting.
