Hampshire County Division formation badges
known to be original, this is an unusual uncut pair of the Hampshire Hog formation badges - centre, with a cut & worn pair to the left. This was the first time I had come across a pair made in this way.

I only have a pair uncut, facing each other on a rectangular strip.
Interestingly the boars are brown, rather than black. Last edited by leigh kitchen; 21-10-18 at 08:07 AM. Reason: Spelling |

If it hadn't been for the provenance Leigh I would have suspected a repro set as like you say, they normally come as oblong pairs.

A very late reply - I think Guido Rosignoli's book
"Army Badges and Insignia Since 1945 vol 1" shows the badge with a curved top (I'll find the book and check). Issue 225 (Jan-March 2007) of "The Formation Sign" shows photo images of a cut, facing pair with curved tops and states 'they can be found with both square and rounded tops". |
