WW2 Pith Hat Patch Help NZDC
Hello
Can any one help me regarding a ww2 pith hat I own, once belonging to Lieutenant Colonel James Ferris Fuller. #6069. I understand he commanded the 2NZEF's Dental Services overseas in WWII. The Pith hat I have with his details inside looks to have had a patch pined on at some stage. As per the photo's you can see pin marks on the left hand side. I would like to know what it would/should have looked like so I could possibly replace it. Green Square? Green / White? A picture would be great but any help would be fantastic. Hi Corey, I have a battle dress and service dress tunic that belonged to Major Gordon McCallum, who was OC of the 1st NZ Mobil Dental Unit, so have done quite a bit of research on him, and your Colonel James Ferris Fuller is mentioned a few times.
Fullers sun helmet is worthy of requesting his service files if you haven’t already done that. I have an article that describes the WW2 NZ Dental Corps Pennant that was hoisted above the hospital at Trentham Camp as — navy blue and Sherwood green, inscribed with the initials NZDC. According to the NZ patch bible on page 129, the colours for the NZDC puggaree is — dark blue / peacock green / dark blue. So I would bet the family farm on the puggaree colours. Brent |

Just looking at page 43, the Arm of Service Colours for NZDC is Sherwood green, so I'll hold off on betting the farm just yet.
