HQ Standing Commander (UK)
I have just had this patch in which I'm told is HQ Standing Commander (UK). This is a new one to me. Does anyone have any information on it please?

Very strange! I hope that the British Defence Attaché in Dublin isn't required to wear it! Mike

HQ Standing Joint Commander (UK) - HQ SJC(UK)
Here is one in my collection with some additional information. Is it actually worn? Well I suspect this is only a planning HQ with a small staff and commanded by a Colonel to provide military assistance to Civil Contingencies (floods, fire, foot and mouth, bin emptying, prisons etc.). Possibly they only needed a 100 badges but the minimum order was 1000!

Thanks for the comments from everyone who contributed, and especially for the links from Tim. At least I know more about it now, and can add some notes to it.

The badge is a representation of the area of responsibility (except Northern Ireland) of the Headquarters, Standing Joint Commander (UK).
The titles of our Commands etc., are getting sillier every time there is a change. Marc |

Many thanks. I look forward to seeing the design for TRFs for the Headquarters' "Foot and Mouth Branch" and "Bin Emptying Section". There was a time when "black bag" only applied to the star graduates from Army Staff College! Mike |

If they continue to reduce the size of the armed forces we may eventually need a badge for the Last Man Standing Commander.

I understand that Hackney Council have a standing finance committee because they sold off all the chairs in order to fund a report into the best use of furniture by council committees.
