Default Machine Gun Corps Silver Cap Badge - Question

I would like to know if this is an original WW1 MGC Silver Cap badge or a later re strike-copy? There is a Silver stamping, but no Hallmark. Many thanks, Clive.

Would agree with Andy. I have seen this mark on QVC badges. I had one tested and yes, it was silver.. but not to a recognisable value (e.g. 0.925).
I would expect a badge like this to have a sterling or hallmark. I would also expect it to be of much better quality and finish.

If the badge was in brass it would be a fake as the base of the crown is flat and should be slightly curved. If this badge is genuine then it has been copied from a fake. I say no more!

I agree. Fake. When MGC officers went to silver badges in 1919, the cap and collars were the same size - and they were half the size of the WW1 pattern.

Many thanks for your informed responses, much as I suspected. Regards, Clive.
