French Military Badge ??

Any ideas welcome, I believe it may be military as it came in a tin with other cap badges and buttons, including a few German bits, so possibly WW2.

Looks to me like a stylised roaring lion facing left with EC 5 or 5 EC incorporated in the design? Mike

Yes, as you say it does appear to be a lion with either EC5 or possibly EC50, hard to say as it`s so stylised.
