Default Royal Warwickshire - Opinions?

Hi Chaps,

Now I know we have some Warwickshire collectors/experts on here, so I'm hoping for some opinions and or further details on my latest purchase (see photos attached).

I have always liked the Royal Warwickshire badge, but must confess as I'm not a collector of this regiment, the variety of badges is somewhat confusing to me. Needless to say the one shown here peeked my interest so I grabbed it. Marked Firmin London on the back. I have seen a few similar silver/gilt officers badges but not exactly like this.

I would appreciated any comments by those in the know, especially in regards a date of use if possible. I'm presuming it's WWI or earlier but I'm just basing that on the addition of lugs so could be way of.

Cheers, Roy.

Thanks Gents,

Very much appreciated. Yes a cracking looking badge indeed, so no complaints here.

Thanks for the educated 'crack' bc, will be interesting to hear what else is suggested. Better get the description down before it goes in the album..

Cheers, Roy.

The officers' collars are the antelopes on the torse with the coronet. The chain is often made of a braided gold wire. The service dress collars are similar to the cap badge, facing, with lugs.

My father wore one of those as a beret badge in Palestine after WW2, with a Royal Blue rectangle behind it. If you don't want to keep it...

Lovely badge Roy,

Time to do what I do ! as well as my dedicated collections I have one just for the badges I like, that would fit mine a treat, well done mate.

Dave.

I should really delete this post, you already have a ' mis-fits ' collection, I will write 100 lines, " I must pay more attention to what is going on around me " lol.

Dave.

Hi Gents,

Thank again for your comments.

Dave, I have the same problem especially when I start replying to emails first think and before I have had my coffee....

Does anyone have a definitive answer on the period of this specific badge?

Cheers, Roy.

As suggested, worn post WW2 as a beret badge. The construction differs slightly from my father's as his chain from the coronet was a very fine chain whereas this is more like a rope.
