4th Bn TF Devonshire Regt?
Bought as the repair looks old- and it had once had a slider, with the hope of it being 4th Bn. Devonshire Regt. TF. Comment welcome. Regards, Paul.

Looks to be a genuine badge and the correct blackened-brass finish
for 4th battalion Devons TF and that is one heavy duty repair! |

This is my latest purchase. It is blackened Devonshires with a slider. The design was also worn by West Buckland and Blundells' school OTC long after the 4th Bn had ceased wearing blackened badges and sits in my OTC album.
The blacking is a 'factory finish' rather than a painted economy badge. |

Would you say mine is the same strike Alan? I think my repair looks quite old so might have been 4th Bn. I think the repair put bidders off mine as it was less than £5. Regards, Paul.
PS Does it alter the asking price if such a badge is sold as OTC or TF? |

Yes the strike are identical.
As for value I suspect any dealer will be selling it as a 1908-15 4th TF Bn badge rather than an OTC badge. Both OTCs wore bronzed/blackened badges from c.1908 until at least 1938. Its the same situation as with the 15th London Regt and Plymouth College school. Alan Last edited by Alan O; 03-07-13 at 06:20 PM. Reason: bn number |

Paul has spotted one in my album and noticed the similarity.
Could this prove a deliberate mass alteration from shank to slider, or perhaps prove that this badge was just rather weak? Rob |

Just had one arrive via ebay- may have a white metal slider. What is the slider like on yours Alan? Regards, Paul.
