Default TANK REGIMENT / LUGS

Hello Everyone.

This Tank Regiment cap badge has flat lugs, in white metal. Is this usual for a badge of this type which I assume is WW2 period? Any opinions welcome.

Kind regards, Malcolm.

Hi Malcolm,
It’s not usual to find these lugs but they are a good sign, date is notoriously tricky to pin down. I’ve got just one the same amongst badges to represent each WWII tank regiment but whether it is a wartime style or pre-war perhaps has elluded me.

Rightly or wrongly I thought that these flat lugs were a feature of some Canadian badges.
They have been mentioned before on the forum as being indicative of WWII manufacture on British badges.

Typical WW2, very nice, you also encounter the RAC/AAC/Parachute Regt badges made like that on occasion.

I have just received a Coldstream guards cap star with this type of " flat lugs " fitted.

G'day Malcolm.

I have one with small copper lugs and it has the rear pointing gun. Have a look and see it the gun points to your left (rear) or to your right (forward pointing).

Regards

Phil.
