Hello all
I have been offered an NZ LRDG badge made in silver. I would guess that it is either a sweetheart badge or a randomly made badge if it seems to have been well made The badge has lugs on the back, not a broach pin that's why I am not sure what it would be. look forward to any comments regards C |

Saw a very similar one on eBay recently.
Like the eBay one the LRDG badge at the centre of it is a fake. |

I never thought the badge was a genuine issued badge, more a sweetheart badge as it is made from silver and seems to have been cast

One similar in the late Laurie Osborne's collection.

At best it is an unknown association badge, most likely 1970s.
Any chance of a reverse picture? If it has no silver stamp then it is best to describe it as a white metal badge. LRDG 040.jpg |

please find the reverse of the badge
it seems not to be silver but rather a white metal, and also seems to have been cast, looks like other theater cast NZ WW2 badges I have seen regards C |

It is from the same die as the fake LRDG in the Martin Marsh repro catalogue.
Evidently it has been cast from a fake of that stable in silver / white metal or whatever that is. If the suggestion is the NZ LRDG Association were sand casting badges from fakes in the 1970s or after I would probably want some evidence. |

Including the very detailed badge posted by Puk and myself, I have only seen one other British LRDG association badge with the letters "NZ" attached to the sides, it sold on Trade me for $150 NZd. The badge you have been offered I would value at $20 NZd. |
