Default Royal Field Artillery gunner with non standard buttons.

This is an oddity but may have no significance. This gunner is wearing non standard buttons, neither Royal Artillery or General Service pattern. They appear to be the economy Royal Arms buttons.

As the photograph was taken in Hull I cannot see any reason for this type of buttons being worn.

This appears to be the type of button being worn though possibly he is wearing a darker version.
