In your opinion where does the bi-metal version of Badge 5 fit in? This is the large OF badge, or as I refer to it - 'the oblong lion' - but with the head in w/m.

The badge you describe is an Officer's badge, I believe all privately made by the Regiment, they are found on sliders and loops, the AY OCA members remember the Officers wearing them, what the date time line is I'm not sure.
I have seen a solid chin one, and a WW2 large of pattern, who knows.
This badge has also been worn as an NCO's arm Badge, as per attached photo, they wore all sorts as arm badges I have been informed, the lugged Du Morgi, The PRI badge, and as can be seen, the Officers pattern.

An Officer’s Bronze cap badge Griffin resting on a Torse, is this a period piece? or made up? (I do hope not!), any timeframe for this would be appreciated.

Also a Chromed or Nickel coated badge, (Walking Out badge?) is what I think it is but as Chris open to your thoughts on it, you can see the Brass coming through the coating!

A Brass/Gilt I.Y. Similar to the following plated badge, as comparison.

The anodised aluminium badge, one of these was sealed on the 30th of April 1965, I believe it's badge A, the J R Gaunt example, as it's similar to the sealed small of badge.
Interesting the Firmin badge has copied the WW2 large of badge, perhaps it was them who made the that original badge to make up for the short fall in 1939? My example has certainly spent a while in the gold anodised!
S&W and the Dowler does look like the lion has sat on a thorn, or had a scare.

Dont think ive seen a Dowler version before. Personally,id doubt the Gaunt Bham was the original badge.
The Firmin and Smith & Wright marks usually percede the Gaunt Bham mark.
Im suprised there isnt a later marked badge than the ones youve listed.

Does anybody know if the ACF units that wore the Ayrshire badge continued to do so after the adults began to wear the QOY badge ?

Much appreciated regarding the Firmin and Smith & Wright marks,I'll put them preceding the Gaunt when I eventually mount them.
I haven't seen any other makers mark for the AY anodised, I'd love to know if there are any more.
An interesting question regarding the cadets, I didn't know there were AY badged cadets? I will put your question to my AY OCA contacts.

The reason i ask is that there doesnt seem to be any more modern markers marks. Which meant either the badge wasnt worn or the QM kept a very tight control on the badges and reissued them.
