Parachute Regiment
Found a couple of pics, first of my dad around 1955. Second one of his mate on his wedding day. Also a little scribble dad had drawn on the back of the photo to my mum, it was along with a sweet little poem. See Para's can be romantic too!

Any idea what the badge below the Pegasus badge is?
And is that last photo one of your prison tattoos? |

Dunno, I'll have a look with my whadjamacallit to see if I can make it out.

Nice to see the beret being worn properly. Why do they wear their cap badges over their ears nowadays ? RSMs get a grip!!!!!

That's the best I can do on a close up of that other badge, does the bottom part look a bit like numerals? he was 2 Para. Impossible for me to make it out but someone who is more familiar might have more luck.

"I Was Montys Double" (1958) has been doing the rounds of daytime TV, it shows what's obviously genuine wartime footage of Paras mixed in with close ups of 1958-ish Paras, the beret styles are very different, the 50's ones are worn "tented" rather like RM ones were during the 70's. |

I can't make it out - closest I can come up with is a Drummers drum.

He played the drums....but I think it was in a skiffle band, not sure about the Para's!

He's a smart chap, wasted in the Para's. Should have joined the Guards.
