Please help ID
Got some more buttons I got in a few lots I bought some time ago. I know a few of these may be livery type, or non-military. Any ideas? Hoping at least a few are military, and have an interesting history...
Thanks, David |

Thanks btns,
Thanks for the reply and the id of several of these. Attached are larger scans of #2, 7, 11. I'm not even sure what the script letters are on #7 & 11. Just curious, you identified the first one as City of Renfrew. You also id'd another for me in an earlier post as City of Norwich. Is there a reference that shows these types of buttons? Or is the design on these some sort of city crest/symbol? Thanks, David |

the enlarged images
2. probably a university college
3. National Provincial Bank (it is upside down and flipped on its vertical axis - nice handicap 7. <pending> Working your way back from a coat of arms to a name is tough work. Some can be found in books on specialised police button and more generic uniform button books. Ambulance / Corporation Transport / Fire Brigade / Police etc. all may have had their own designs and/or generic city designs. |

Thanks for all the great information, and the ID of these buttons. Now I see the NPB on the bank button, didn't realize I had it upside-down. And thanks for the links to coats of arms for cities, interesting info.

Thanks btns
I like your methodology for identifying these buttons - you're good... I never realized how in Britain there were so many different buttons - how there were so many non-military buttons. Not like that here in the US, at least not in recent years anyway. |

last one
Hi David,
Thank you. I think I cracked the code on the last one. The crown is Queen Victoria's. The letters are XVII It could be English (cavalry or foot) or Indian army. David, can you let me know the backmark? regards, btns |

Great eye to recognize the "XVII", I would have never decifered that without help.
The backmark is "Jennens & Co. / London. By the way, this is a cuff button that was one of two that was linked together as cufflinks. Thanks again, David |
