A lot to go at there and I'm pushed for time but the two 16th Lancers for starters - silver one c. 1820-1830, gilt one c.1830-1855.

Would also help to see the backs.

First (large) button with sphinx - almost certainly 11th Hussars mess waiters button, probably late Victorian.

Hello Tony

Some more very nice buttons.

In the first photo your large 11th Light Dragoons button is an Officer's Mess Waiter's button. The design of these buttons was unofficial so they may have continued to use the LD designations after conversion to Hussars in 1840.

I agree with David on the dates for the 16th Lancers buttons.

The 14th King's Light Dragoons in the first photo is about 1830 to 1861.

In the second photo, the 13th Light Dragoons is also about 1830 to 1861.

The 18th Light Dragoons is early 1800s, as is, I would say, the 14th Light Dragoons in the same photo.

David or someone else may be able to come up with more precise dates and the backs may well help this time.

Well done on finding some very early and desirable buttons.

Roger

I agree with Roger re the above dates, the two ball buttons are c. 1800-1815/1820. I have the 18LD at home with a confirmed date, possibly also the other one but, unfortunately, I'm not at home!

Hello Tony

In my view the backs of these buttons confirm the various dates given previously.

Very nice indeed.

Roger
