Default Jennens & Co

There is something very pleasing about officers badges manufactured by Jennens & Co, whilst not rare, this is one example that had always eluded me until today.

Hello Allison,
It grieves me to admit it, but, I do have a bit of a thing about the Blues, I even resorted to collecting the old silks too!
Kind regards Frank

It shouldn't grieve you! Nothing wrong with a bit of Household Cavalry.

That silk is lovely.

I have a few Blues bits and bobs, the worst being a helmet plume desperately in need of some conditioner.

Its in this album somewhere Frank, though I have more Life Guards than Blues pieces I think.

Would it be fair to suggest that you seem to have a bit of a thing about the Household Division?

That would be a fair assessment. I used to work in Whitehall and would make excuses to head Horse Guards-wards. All in the name of research you understand.

Hi Frank,

A lovely badge and nice to see with this makers mark. I can't see I have seen too many.

Here is a pic of the similar marking but this time on a much earlier militia shako plate.

Well done!

Cheers, Roy.

Now then Allison,
Are you sure this is not just a thing about big blokes on horse's or perhaps even a horse fetish?

Yes, that is an earlier example of their hallmark, always nice to see, they made some quite superb plates as well as humble cap badges.

A horse fetish??? no Frank.

I think though, we have covered my Guards fetish. You can lump donkey wallopers in with that. Not quite as nice though.

Hello Keith,
Yes, I think that quality is always clearly apparent with Jennens, I seldom buy cap badges these days, those manufactured by this firm never really fail to impress me.
Kind regards Frank
