Royal Signals Cloth Beret Badge.
I've read (somewhere) that a trial version of the cloth beret badge was rejected as it creased and the coloured threads wore through with use, I've seen illustrations of the badge in a lighter shade of blue, both oval badges and round ones (this one is oval and very dark blue or black) and read that it was specific to particular R. Signals units and also that it was issued to Army Cadets.
This one is attached to a beret which was manufactured around 1979 - 85 (it has a "CT3B" code stamped in it). It's generally the worse for wear, the fabric of the badge worn on the creased ridges and the yellow and white threads worn. Can anyone put a date on the badge please, trial pattern or later for cadets etc? |

Leigh, there is a thread on this somewhere on here. I remember them briefly brought in at the Army Apprentice College, Harrogate, but swiftly removed. I have a photo of it in use in another signals unit, but am unable to share. this was 81-83. Regards Mark

Thanks for that, I may be able to get a glimpse of the back of mine where the damage around the bottom edge is.
