Default Rank slides royal Anglian regiment.

Hi all, here’s a couple of questions.

When did the army change from two rank slides on the shoulders to one worn on the front.

And can the same dates be used for the cadet units.

Thanks Andrew, who is sorting out all his Royal Anglian regt and cadet slip on rank slides.

This change came with the introduction of Combat Solider 95 which was on trial in 1992 and was issued for Bosnia deployments in 1995-6 and then to the wider Army.

At first C95 was only worn on ops and exercises and OG shirts and lightweights worn in barracks. Gradually C95 became daily dress and lightweights were relegated to barrack dress.

It was some years before cadets were issued it but dates will vary.

As an outlier - Going back to the 1970s the arctic windproof smock had rank tabs on chest and between the shoulder blades (the latter often removed) but that was generally only issued to troops going to Norway or the South Atlantic.

As another aside, we got our CS95 AFTER we got home from our 1995-96 Bos deployment, but then we also got our Matterhorn winter boots after a month patrolling in the snow and I remember the LI complaining that they only got winter track for their Warriors and CVR(T) AFTER coming down from the mountains to deploy into the Serb areas.

Sounds about right Royal.
Did the PWO have all their winter kit taken off them and given to the Paras at the outset of the Falklands campaign. They were part of Ace mobile force at the time.
