Mufasa,
A most interesting officers badge, the Gordon Highlanders worn the same design badge in WW1 and WW2. The badge is stamped SIL for silver on the back but there appears to be something else stamped as well it could be a makers mark and that might help date the item. I cannot make out the second stamping ( it could just be an imperfection ),If you can tell us if there is something else in addition to "SIL" and what it is,it might help. P.B. |

Mufasa,
Thanks for that ,you could be right but I think ABN is more likely to the initials or mark of the maker and he could have been a jeweller looking at the design of the badge. I am afraid ABN means nothing to me perhaps it might ring a bell with other members. Peter |

... I did a search on some marks of silver privincials English manufacturer ... Certainly is a trademark of a littele silver manufacturer of Arbendeen .... ABD should have had close also marks the marks of Manchester, but J think that for the internal Market (and the lack of surface badge) rules were more flexible ....

... There are differences, for example in the horns of deer, or other details, forthe badges of the first model and the most recent?
