Default RNAS bronze badge

Hi All
I just saw this online and would appreciate opinions, not that I am in the market at that price.

I don't want to in any way suggest that the dealer is at fault but to me this badge just looks totally wrong.
Opinions?
Cheers,
Alex

I wouldn't buy it. Looks, I'm not saying it actually is, like cast base metal.

Lol , yes thought that one , it's correct these were produced like this but some were die struck, crazy price....a similar damaged one cast sold on eBay for two hundred sometime back , a gilded version die struck sold for around 600 including fees by Bosleys. This particular was on a board of RNAS badges sold via auctioneers earlier this year .

The board of badges sold for 1300 plus buyers fees !!!!!

So he is way way over price .....otherwise I would have bought it lol

Hi AU
Are you saying that it is genuine? To me it looks terrible! I would have thought the wreath would at the very least be similar to the standard RND officer's badge, though I would have expected the wreath to look like a RNAS bullion badge. That looks like it was designed for something else with that big gap below.
Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Yes I believe it's genuine though it's based on an earlier design, some do replicate the RNAS wreath which is very different but not all when in bronze .The eagle appears stylised, as does the wreath. Personally though I would want to inspect it to be 100% simply due to the tail of the eagle , though the head appears separate from the body . Sadly we are very limited to what you can compare it with and as always inspection would be needed.
The bullion wreath is totally different pattern I agree, and is not found looking like this or in a standard Navy wreath.
Yes these early badges are similar construction to full size cast officer RND badges .
Enclose my miniature sun helmet badge which is ultra rare and100% correct.......but the eagle conforms to the flat tail , though the wreath is similar to the RND !!!

Thanks for all the comments. I think, even if I had the money, I wouldn't buy this, just looks wrong to me, despite the collection it came from.
Cheers,
Alex
