Wow.Fabulous badges.
im intrigued that the cloth titles are to the KRRC rather than Queen Victoria`s Rifles over KRRC or similar that they wore.

Mike,

That could just be an error on my part in the way I have grouped the items in the collection together.

After the War it appears that he spent a lot of time with ex POW Groups and sadly, attempting to bring some comfort to the Widows of Men he had encountered during his war time captivity and it is from here that I believe the non QVR items were collected. The KRRC titles may therefore have been acquired in this manner.

Regards Simon.

Regards Simon.
It is posible that he was issued with the KRRC titles when he returned home from the POW Camp.

My father was in the 2 QVRs (8 KRRC) from 1941:

"In 1939 the QVR formed a second battalion which, together with the first, were re-titled in 1941 the 7th and 8th Battalion (Queen Victoria’s Rifles) KRRC."

http://rgjmuseum.co.uk/photo-archive...nce-battalion/

These battalions were badged as KRRC and wore KRR slip-on and KRRC sew on titles. I still have them, plus his 9th Armoured Division "Panda" flashes.

Later in the war he was in 1st Middlesex in 15th Scottish Division. I still have his flashes from then too.

BWEF,

Many thanks for that extra information and the link.

That would explain why he kept these KRRC shoulder titles with the QVR badges.

Will have another trawl through the paperwork and records we have and see where he was posted on repatriation to the UK.

Regards Simon.

It would.

Anybody that had QVR badges could have kept them.

I don't know if they could have worn them "on parade"? Maybe they could, or maybe wear them when on leave or "walking out"?

Standard "KRR" slip ons and "KRRC" sew on titles were being worn from 1941.

I would assume/guess that all the ex-London Regiment units that had become part of the KRRC by WW2 would have been wearing the same. QVRs, Queens Westminsters and Rangers. These were the 7th to 12th KRRC

I have seen the titles you mention in photos from the 1950s. I think in the KRRC Chronicle.

Chris,

My pleasure, once I work out how to do it, I'll try and create an album for future reference regarding these badges.

Simon.
