Lancastrian Off cap? help needed
Hi
What would be this cap for ? Lancastrian Brigade? The Queen’s Lancashire Regt ? I know that the badge is identical for both units, but the cap itself? Thank you in advance.

Thank you
I thought the same too because the Queen's Lancashire. wore a red bandeau, but I was not sure the Lanc Brig wore an embroidered black bandeau

I can't make out the design on the buttons, Brigade or regimental? Possibly the Loyal's.
The bullion on the peak means it's a Field Officer's cap. If it's a brigade era cap then presumably the non-royal regiments in it had the black mohair rather then the red band. |

The cap is that of an officer of The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire), worn during the Training Brigade era and prior to the Loyal's amalgamation into The Queen's Lancashire Regiment.

Thank you for this accurate analysis I put below the ligneage So, buttons and badge and cap fit well altogether and this cap is genuine? I don't know the Training Brigade era (I know the Inf Brig: 1948 – 1958 (cap badge created) – 1969The Brigades were administrative formations of the British Army from 1948 to 1968) ?

Apologies, my sloppy wording - the Admin Brigades were formed around 1958, the Brigade cap badges being worn until around 1968-70 when the Brigade system ended with a series of amalgamations of regiments (and the disbandment of a couple) .
An officer of The Loyal's has kept the regiment's buttons on his cap but changed the badge from The Loyal's to that of The Lancastrian Brigade when the regiment joined the Brigade or bought the cap ready fitted with the Brigade's badge. The combination of insignia is "good". Someone should be able to narrow the dates of wear further within the Admin Brigade era by the introduction of the anodised aluminium buttons replacing officer's gilt or gilt and silver ones.
